#2: What It Takes To Lose Weight For GoodJan 06, 2020
In this episode, I’ll be discussing the main topics I covered in my recent series of live online masterclasses, The 3 Behind-the-Scenes Secrets to Lose Weight After 50.
During this masterclass, I broke down what it really takes to lose weight for the last time and end the yo-yo dieting. There was a lot of great content in there so I wanted to break it down and share some of it with you today.
You know I’m on a mission to help adults 50+ get healthier and lose weight so they can stay healthy and active long into their retirement.
I have seen with my clients that getting to, and maintaining a healthy weight is one of the best things we can do for our aging bodies to prevent conditions like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and some cancers and dementia, let alone reduce the force going through the joints and inflammation in the body to have less overall pain and better mobility.
Losing weight after 50 is easier said than done but it is totally doable...if you are doing the right things. That’s what I’m going to be sharing with you today.
Here’s a recap of what I talk about in this episode,
>> Point #1: My three behind-the-scenes secrets to weight loss success after 50. I’ll discuss some commonly held misconceptions about weight loss including eating low-fat and doing a ton of cardio...and what you should be doing instead to boost your metabolism.
>> Point #2: I discuss my four pillars to lasting weight loss and disease prevention. Once you understand that weight loss and disease prevention is largely influenced by insulin resistance, and that in order to reach your goals, it’s crucial to understand all the factors that can raise your insulin, you will have a lot more tools in your weight loss toolbox besides eat less and exercise more.
>> Point #3: Much of your success will be determined by your internal beliefs, thoughts, and habits. I discuss four of my favorite mindset tips to help you stop dieting and start living a healthy lifestyle.
>> Point #4: Lastly, at the time of this episode, doors are currently open to my online course and coaching program, How to Lose Weight After 50™, so I wanted to be sure to give you information for how you can register for that, or if you are listening to this after January 10, 2020 how you can get on the waitlist to be the first to know when I’m opening the doors again in 2020.
Let’s take a look at a few highlights of this episode…
>> [05:48] Secret #1: Obesity is a hormonal, not caloric imbalance. Once you learn how to live in a way that keeps your insulin levels low, it becomes much easier to lose weight.
>> [7:42] Secret #2: The second secret is that there is not one magic way to lose weight. When you have the traditional calories in versus calories out mindset for weight loss, you have one of two options: eat less or exercise more. I touched on the four pillars of weight loss being nutrition, exercise (specifically the importance of strength training), sleep, and stress management.
>> [12:50] Secret #3: Much of your success will be determined by your mindset. I discussed the importance of having a long-term mindset, being ready to stop the excuses and take personal responsibility for your health, being open to new ideas and support because the thoughts that got you where you are today won’t get you where you want to be, and lastly I reminded you to focus more on your systems and less on your goals.
>> [19:42] My client told me recently she wished she would have started this years ago. Your willpower and self-control will not get you where you want to be. The right knowledge, support, and accountability will. If that is what you need, then my friend, please sign up for my course today by going to reshapept.com/yes.
